Starting fresh

Life is not about making reservations.  It's about exploring, creating, and doing.  Many claim to like new things, but when big life changes show up at your door - - whether expected or not - - suddenly we are forced out of our comfort zone and into unspoken territory. It is human nature to have a sense of control.  To have a desire of choice.  Even expected changes can be hard to grasp.

Life is a series of events.  It is common to follow the chronological guide when planning your life.  Graduate high school, maybe go to college.  Search for employment, possibly get marred, and have kids.  It seems society approves of those events, especially in that order.

As recent college graduates, both of us have decided to take a little 'me' time. Neither of us are ready to start the traditional American dream and come home to the perfect house hidden behind a white picket fence and full of kids and a husband.  We are both at a point where there are no real plans.  Two twenty-nothing women with a world of opportunities.

Adventurous and curious by nature, the two of us are making plans to explore.  Every month, we plan two short trips.  One-night stays in the place of our choice.  With college loans to repay, our budget is small.  Both born and raised in Ohio, we are exploring nearby cities, neighboring states, and that world of opportunity we keep hearing about.

So we go. Inserting Taylor Swift and repeating 'Mean' six times in a row.  Shades on, windows down.  Two young women on the road. We let ourselves go for a moment.  We pop our own comfort bubbles and step out to really see what there is to offer.

No plans, no reservations.  Just a desire to explore, to learn and to share.  Sounds like life to me.
